In a time long past, the Earth was divided between two ruling races: Humans and Monsters. The fragile peace between them shattered, and a devastating war broke out. The humans, driven by fear of the monsters' ability to absorb their souls, launched a brutal attack.
### **The Human Victory and the Monster's Downfall**
The monsters, despite their valiant efforts, were no match for the humans. Outnumbered and outpowered, they suffered a catastrophic defeat. The human army emerged victorious, but at a great cost. The war left deep scars, and the monsters were forced to surrender.
### **The Sealing of the Monsters**
To ensure their safety, the humans used a powerful magic spell to seal the monsters underground, imprisoning them beneath Mount Ebott. Only a handful of monsters survived, including Gerson. The humans, now triumphant, believed they had secured their place as the dominant race.
### **The Aftermath and the Rise of Monster Resentment**
In the aftermath of the war, the monsters retreated to the deepest parts of the Underground, which they called "Home." Over time, they rebuilt and expanded, eventually establishing their capital in "New Home." However, the bitter memories of the war and the subsequent sealing fuelled their resentment towards humanity.
The monsters, led by King Asgore, vowed to exact revenge on the human race. A policy of killing any human who fell into the Underground was enacted, with the ultimate goal of collecting seven human souls to break the barrier and launch a full-scale assault on humanity.
The war may have ended, but the hatred and desire for revenge simmered, waiting to boil over into a new conflict.
