Internet has become one of the most essential parts in our lives. Everything that we do or work on is with the help of the Internet; we can partially support the fact that without internet, these days work cannot proceed. It has made our lives so simpler that people can access to various facilities at their fingertips. It has also become one of an essential for a student’s life, as the internet also plays a leading role in education. Students can access the internet to browse on lectures, research papers, daily news and various other information related to education. But when the student misuse or overuses the internet, it can cause ill effects on Humphrey. For example, students get pocket money by their parents through internet payments, these payments are secured as long as only the student knows the information on his/her UPI account the student sometimes might trust their friends with their bank passwords and share them, by which the opposite member might take advantage and misuse the trust of their friend. In such cases, we can also take newton’s third law of motion “every action has an equal and opposite reaction”. Internet can be quite influencing to the younglings as it is a vast network which connects different people from different places. There are a few people who have given their quotes on internet and education like Kent Conrad, a former united states senator, said, “Access to computers and the internet has become a basic need for education in our society”. In this topic, we will further be diving into a few topics on why internet access to students should be restricted. We will discover topics such as objectives of restricted internet access, advantages of avoiding internet in the education spectrum, disadvantages and limitations of avoiding internet for education and conclusion on all the topics. We also learn about why emphasizing normal perspective of studies is preferred rather than the internet, such as reading physical books, making use of time.
OBJECTIVES
1.Improved Focus and Productivity:
Excessive usage of the internet causes distractions to students, leading to a lack of focus and productivity. Setting limits on internet usage may minimize distractions by which students can concentrate and work better on their learning outcomes.
2.Time Management:
Time management is an important aspect of anyone’s life. Setting time limits on usage of the internet can help students manage their time efficiently. Making schedules for the day can help students to manage their day smoothly.
3.Healthy Lifestyle:
Having a healthy lifestyle can get various changes in one’s life, including physical activities such as yoga, meditation or outdoor games and hobbies encourages a healthy lifestyle by increasing overall health.
4.Social Interaction:
Excessive internet usage can bring big effects on direct social relationships. This promotes improved emotional bonds and a sense of belonging.
5.Digital Well-being:
Internet can be a harsh place with numerous risks involved, such as cyberbullying, access to inappropriate content. Avoiding such situations and using the Internet for productivity helps students to maintain a healthy digital footprint.
6.Mental Health:
Excessive internet usage, particularly before night, may affect sleep patterns and lead to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Having limitations helps kids in developing appropriate sleep behaviours, allowing for enough rest and improved mental health.
7.Academic Performance:
Effective limits on internet usage positively impact students’ academic performance. Reduced distractions, enhanced attention, and better time management can help students to improve their learning, absorb knowledge more efficiently, and improve their overall scores and achievements.
8.Limited holistic learning:
During COVID we saw a lot of social and cultural activities being creatively recreated online. However, there are limitations. Education is not just about what is taught in the classrooms, it is also taking part in extracurricular activities
Sleep deprivation:
Screen time in the hour before bed can stimulate children. Light from televisions, computer screens, phones and tablets might suppress melatonin levels and delay sleepiness. Lack of sleep is very harmful for young students.
