About Prophecy
About the Role
As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer – Knowledge Graph, you will own the design, development, and operation of Prophecy’s knowledge graph systems. You’ll lead end-to-end projects that power retrieval, reasoning, and AI agents, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring data products from concept to production. This is a senior technical leadership role with high impact and visibility.
Qualifications
Expertise in building and managing Knowledge Graphs, including entity extraction, linkage, and ontology design.
Experience integrating Knowledge Graph with AI systems for retrieval, reasoning, and agent context (e.g., enriching with LLM).
Tech lead experience: Owning end-to-end KG projects, from design to deployment, with leadership in cross-functional teams.
Versatile software developer: fluency in Python, REST APIs, microservices in public cloud; some experience with Go, AWS, k8s, java, Scala.
Hands-on experience in developing, optimizing and operating neo4j or similar graph databases.
Builder mentality: Demonstrated experience taking ideas to production.
What Will Make You Stand Out
ML/LLM work in code generation (e.g., Codex, text-to-SQL), semantic extraction, or knowledge graphs (e.g., Neo4j, Neptune).
Experience with big-data engines like Spark.
Compiler development for languages like SQL, Python, or Scala.
Optimization of ML models for low-latency, high-throughput production use.
Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects (e.g., Hugging Face, PyTorch).
Expertise in retrieval systems or vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate).
Skill in evaluating tech and driving build/buy decisions.

Build and maintain pipelines for ingesting, enriching, and updating graph data.
AI & Knowledge Graph Integration
Integrate knowledge graphs with AI/LLM systems to support retrieval, reasoning, and contextualization for agents.
Design and optimize interfaces between graph databases, vector stores, and LLM-based services.
Technical Leadership
Own end-to-end KG projects from design to deployment and ongoing operation.
Lead cross-functional initiatives with data engineers, ML engineers, and product teams.
Drive technical decision-making around architecture, tooling, and build vs. buy choices.
Software Engineering & Infrastructure
Develop robust, production-grade software services in Python (and some Go/Java/Scala).
Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices in a public cloud environment.
Operate and optimize graph databases (e.g., Neo4j or similar) for performance, reliability, and scale.
Production ML & Optimization (Plus)
Apply ML/LLM techniques to semantic extraction, code generation, and knowledge graph construction.
