Harrier is Microsoft’s latest open-source embedding family, built to improve grounding quality in AI systems that need search, retrieval, memory, ranking, and orchestration. Microsoft says the series delivers state-of-the-art performance, ranks first on multilingual MTEB-v2 as of 06-04-2026, supports more than 100 languages, and offers a 32K context window with fixed-size embeddings. The company also says training used over 2 billion weakly supervised examples and more than 10 million high-quality fine-tuning examples.
