MIRA (Multimodal Intelligent Retrieval and Augmentation) targets medical LLM reliability by tightly coupling retrieval and reasoning. It uses a calibrated Rethinking and Rearrangement module to adapt the number of retrieved contexts per query, trading off coverage and hallucination risk. At the same time, it fuses visual embeddings from medical images with a structured medical knowledge base plus query rewriting, so the model can ground answers in both text and imaging evidence for complex clinical tasks.
