Silk 1 Beta is a voice model from Rumik AI, published on 11-02-2026 as a research preview for AI companion speech. It is an expressive TTS model designed to make companion interactions feel more human through emotion, pauses, modulation, prosody, vocal events, and multilingual code-switching, especially Hinglish and other Indic-English mixed speech patterns. Rumik describes Silk 1 as already powering voice inside its Ira companion product, with reported average latency around 300 ms, and says it is preparing an open-source Silk 1 Mulberry model later.
