Nova Act

By Amazon
New Multimodal Gen
Released: March 31, 2025

Overview

Amazon Nova Act is an agentic AI model and SDK (research preview) that can take actions inside a web browser—clicking, filling forms, navigating pages, and extracting data—to complete multi-step tasks like shopping or scheduling. Available via nova.amazon.com with security features (IAM integration, isolated runtimes, encryption).

Description

Nova Act is Amazon’s browser-native action model for building agents that do things, not just chat. Using the Nova Act SDK (research preview), developers create agents that operate web UIs like a person—searching, clicking buttons, scrolling, filling fields, uploading files, and reading results—to automate real workflows (e.g., buy an item while skipping add-ons, place calendar holds, submit forms). It’s part of the broader Nova family and is accessible from nova.amazon.com.

Under the hood, the SDK focuses on production-grade guardrails: AWS IAM–based access control, isolated execution on macOS/Linux/Windows (including WSL2), and encryption for sensitive inputs/outputs. Amazon provides samples and workshops (including MCP integrations) to wire tools and data sources cleanly. Early access is positioned for U.S. developers.

Typical use cases include automated shopping and checkout, internal IT/self-service tasks, data entry and extraction, and agentic test flows. Amazon has also signaled Nova Act’s role in next-gen assistants like the upgraded Alexa Plus.
