Roar

Roar is one of the new Chat Styles introduced by Character.ai. Unlike Meow, which prioritizes speed and quick replies (sometimes feeling rushed or shallow), Roar tries to balance speed with depth. It gives more thoughtful, longer-form replies, richer detail, and better atmosphere, especially useful in roleplay or discussions that benefit from a bit more immersion.

Users note that Roar “slows down a bit” compared to Meow, but not so much that the flow feels sluggish. The trade-off is higher quality: more elaborate scene-setting, more descriptive writing, and a sense that the character is “thinking” more about how to respond. That said, it doesn’t go all in on extremes of detail (which is what styles like Nyan are for), so it sits nicely between light & fast and deep & rich.

If you want characters that deliver good storytelling, emotional resonance, or more picturesque descriptions without long delays, Roar is the default go-style. If you need quick back-and-forth or a fast burst of text, Meow might be better; for maximum richness, Nyan is the style to try.
