Claude Opus 5 accepts text and image input and produces text and code output. It is designed for long running, multi step agentic sessions, verifying its own work and correcting course without close supervision, including building its own tools to check results when no direct feedback is available. It shows improved performance on scientific research tasks such as organic chemistry and protein function prediction, and produces more polished interactive and visual outputs than earlier Opus models. It supports tool use and function calling for automating multi step business and coding tasks. It is priced the same as its predecessor and is also offered in a faster processing mode at increased cost.
