Overview
Overview
Genie Code is an AI-powered development partner built into the Databricks workspace that helps data teams analyze, build, and maintain data and AI systems. Designed specifically for real-world data work, it assists with tasks across data science, machine learning, data engineering, and business intelligence.The system understands an organization’s data environment through Unity Catalog metadata, governance rules, and asset relationships, allowing it to automatically select relevant data and maintain context across projects. Genie Code can plan and execute complex multi-step workflows such as exploratory data analysis, pipeline debugging, dashboard development, and model experimentation.
Users can define custom agent skills, provide persistent instructions, upload images for context, and specify datasets or assets for precise execution. Genie Code also generates structured execution plans that teams can review before running them, enabling automated yet controlled development across notebooks, SQL workflows, and production pipelines.
