1,81522Released 17d agoNo pricingI love that Shakespeare is totally open source and fully focused on allowing users to build with freedom, rather than just another AI SaaS trying to lock users into a subscription tier. You can use it with any other AI provider, or pay as you go for credits with Shakespeare's default AI. It's really easy to talk to the app, build a first draft, and deploy. I also like how you can edit other open source projects and improve them. Really cool tool for people who want to build with AI but care about open source and freedom.

That’s more generous than many competitors. But the cracks show quickly. There’s no calling function, and the subscription model $9.99 per month for unlimited messages—feels too barebones for the price. The platform also lacks proper tagging for models, making discovery awkward, and the limited male variety makes it feel unbalanced for users seeking more options. To improve, DreamTavern should expand its male character selection, refine its model tagging, and add immersive features like calling. Compared with Character AI, which offers depth, diversity, and memory, DreamTavern still feels half-baked.
