threw some 2D character sketches into this and got usable 3D models back. they need cleanup but it's a solid starting point. beats modeling from scratch when you're just testing ideas

I tested Image3D for a quick 3D asset idea and the experience was smooth. The tool is especially useful if you have an AI-generated image or product-style photo and want to see it as a 3D model. I also appreciate the STL support, since that makes it relevant for 3D printing instead of only web previews.

I like the before-and-after examples on the site because they set realistic expectations. I tested the tool with a simple object image and liked being able to inspect the model directly in the browser. The result quality depends on the input image, but the workflow is fast and much easier than starting from scratch in a 3D modeling app.

The Image to STL workflow is the most interesting part for me. I tested it with a simple single-object image, and the process from upload to 3D preview was easy to understand. For people who are not comfortable with Blender or CAD tools, this makes 3D printing ideas much more accessible. Complex images probably still need cleanup, but for simple objects and early concepts it is very useful.

kay this one's actually kinda nuts for indie game stuff. fed it some concept sketches and got usable meshes out, geometry comes out a bit messy sometimes and you gotta clean it up in blender but for early prototyping it saves so much time. free AND open source for image-to-3d? not sure why this isnt talked about more. been using it way more than i thought i would honestly

Fast3d goes brrrr. I gave in a couple photos and a short prompt and it kicked back clean base meshes fast, multiview kept shapes tight and exports to GLB FBX OBJ were plug and play. This is the shi!
