GetTheGists🛠️ 1 tool 🙏 2 karmaMay 13, 2026@GetTheGistsThis started from a small frustration that wouldn't go away: I'd open 12 tabs for "research," skim none of them properly, and close my laptop feeling more behind than when I started. The web rewards reading speed, not reading depth — and I wanted a tool that flipped that. So I built GetTheGists: a Chrome extension that gives you the gist of any page in 3 seconds, then lets you ask follow-up questions like you would a smart friend who already read it. A few things we went out of our way to get right: - Cognitive hierarchy, not walls of text. Every summary is structured as Gist → Why It Matters → Key Takeaways → Implications. Compression before precision. - Ask, don't just read. Hit the page with follow-ups, get answers grounded in the content. - 20 languages, full dark mode, and a resizable side panel that actually respects your screen. What surprised me building this: the hardest part wasn't the AI — it was deciding what not to show. Every iteration was about removing a section, not adding one. What stood out was explainability. The Reasoning panel shows exactly how the advice follows from hexagram → line texts → question context. It felt more like a decision journal than a “fortune.”

I'm currently testing on iOS and I so very strongly wish I had a web version or Android version as well so that I can use it across all my platforms. Hands down my fav app for news on any device currently.

Opentried it and skimmed a bunch of entries on dreams, animals and numbers. The write-ups tie symbols to headspace in a way that actually gets you thinking, a little horoscope-y at times but I still pulled a few solid lines for my journal - Didn't find the AI you were looking for?

Pros : Beautiful interface! Easy to use. Free AI image to save with your dream. Paid version is super cool. You get all sorts of cool stuff. I want to so bad but the con..it's very expensive.

After not even ONE try, it asks for Pro. No success, just imo developer hyper-greed. Avoid!

Mindgrasp was the best upgrade from using Chat GPT for school cuz I can upload anything I want and get help from the AI and it’s really detailed notes and answers. It’s cheap too I only pay 9.99 per month

From my experience, this can only assist by pulling information from websites of competitors. If you're in an industry that doesn't provide pricing online, this will not work for you.

Process patient referral documents way faster now. Pulls key medical history and relevant details instantly instead of me scanning through pages. Still review everything carefully but it flags what matters first.

Sharly AI is a total lifesaver at work! When I'm dealing with those super-long documents or reports, Sharly steps up and makes things way more manageable. It's also a big help for my studies, it kicks in to make studying way easier.

Sim Theory Review The support that simtheory.ai claims they will provide is useless and non existent! After being triple billed it took me over a month to get the issue corrected and get refunded money I was overcharged. It took numerous emails and after threatening to cancel all payments I FINALLY received contact and a bill correction. The actual simtheory support agent even commented in his replay email that “our customer support is sh%t!” At least they recognize the issue, sad part is they seem not to care. After getting the billing corrected I found that I was locked out of my account with the registered owner email so I submitted another support ticket. Three support tickets, two emails, four support chat requests (which assured me they were escalating the issue and I would be contacted THAT DAY or even within 4 hours and I still have not heard from this group. I now have months of working on a project and chat history that I can’t access which means recreating the whole project and believe me it won’t be in this garbage system. My experience is that they will gladly take your money and as long as you have no questions or problems you are probably OK, it does what it is advertised to do as far as functionality, but if you need support you are screwed as they seem not to understand the meaning of the word, support. Even after trying to contact Canva who recently purchased them I have had absolutely no contact from them. I even registered for sales to reach out as I am a director of training but still no response. I have been using software and the internet since dial up modems and this is without a doubt the worst customer service experience I have ever received in 40 years. Further more their support and FAQ documentation is pitiful. If you are looking for this type of AI platform, trust me and look elsewhere! Run from these folks!!!
